However, it is always a hassle to find a good username. You might have created your account a long time ago and now regretting the old-fashioned username. And after many years of regret, you have decided to replace the old-fashioned trend. The reason can be any for changing Instagram username; you can always change your username in a few easy steps.

Difference between Display Name and Username

Do you know what the difference between display name and username is? It is important for you to know about that. The Instagram display name is nothing but your personal or business name with some restrictions. The platform allows you to change it whenever you wish. You can easily remember this name.

Username is what appears at the top of your Instagram account. Someone can use your username on the platform to find you by tagging with “@.” An Instagram username has some more restrictions.

  • It should be unique.
  • Characters should be less than 30.
  • Requires only letters, numbers, periods, and underscores (without spaces).
  • No vulgar or restricted language allowed.

By considering all these restrictions, let’s see how you can change your Instagram username. You will also learn about what will be the impact of your new username on your Instagram account.

Steps to change the username on the mobile app

Most people use Instagram on their mobile, so we are going to first explain to you how to change the username on the mobile app. You can change the username on mobile in a few seconds. Here is how to do it.

  • Launch the Instagram app on your smartphone and sign in to your account.
  • Hit the avatar from the bottom right.
  • Click on the option called Edit Profile located below your bio.
  • Type the new username in the respective field.
  • Hit the checkmark from the upper right corner to save changes.

As you know, you have to follow all the limitations to change your username. If you don’t follow the guidelines, a red exclamation mark will appear, saying, “Username not available.” In that case, try another name using different variations.

Steps to change the username on a computer

  • Go to Instagram.com and sign in to your account.
  • Hit on your avatar icon from the upper right.
  • Choose Profile.
  • Hit Edit Profile option located near your username.
  • Type the new username in the respective field.
  • Finally, hit the Submit button from the lower section of the page.

Note that no warning sign will appear to you like the mobile app in case of not availability of a username. Instead, you will see a small pop-up explaining that your username isn’t available when you hit the submit button.

What will be the effect of the new username on your account?

After changing your username, it will immediately replace the previous one. A new username affects your account URL, meaning the new username will be added to the end of your account URL. And when anyone will try to locate you using the previous username or the old URL, they will get an error. You should instantly update the new username or URL across all your social presence and on the website if you have any. On the other hand, your new Instagram username won’t affect your existing follower count, but it may create confusion for them.

How to locate someone who has changed their username?

It is a good question that may arise in the mind of most people. But there is no need to worry. If you are still following a person who has recently changed their username, you will be able to locate that person under the following list, and the new posts will even appear to you.  You can also locate that person through their display name. If the account is publicly visible and the display name is still the same, you can get it with an easy search.

New Updates for Instagram and Facebook

The photo-sharing app has come up with Instagram Ads for Reels, and the change has been made part of the platform after long testing.

The company started showing ads to reels in select markets a few months ago, and now the reel ad has been launched for all users.

Users in the app already see ads in stories and feed, and now ads will also be shown in the new Reels tab.

Information is given in the official blog post

Instagram reported this change in the official blog post and said that businesses would be able to reach their audience better.

“These ads will help businesses reach more audiences and give users the option to discover new content shared by brands and creators,” the company wrote. “

Instagram reels ads will be vertical and full screen and will look like the ads that appear in stories.

Reels Ads will be shown in different parts of the app from where they now have the option to access reels.

New ads will be shown in the Reels tab, Reels in Stories, Reels in Explore, and Reels in Your Feed section.

In addition, if a user taps the reels in the Stories, Feed, or Explore section, he will see the full view and will also be able to scroll the reels vertically.

Option to report or hide add

Instagram will also give its users the option to control and manage the ads they see in reels.

“Like other ads that appear in the app, users will be given some controls for reels ads,” the company stated in the blog. “

That is, if the user does not like an ad, he or she will not only get the option to skip but also hide or report the ad by tapping the menu.

Digital Shops for creators

Instagram is now also going to make it easier for content creators and investors to start their digital shops.

Influencers can sell their products at their digital shop, and it is easy to list.

Recently, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said that the company is testing a new affiliate tool these days.

With the help of this tool, Instagram users will be able to pay for product promotion.

Better insights for reels and videos will appear

The app has also recently come up with insight options for reels and Instagram live videos. After the new update, creators and businesses will be able to better understand how the content shared by them is performing on the app.

After the update, creators and businesses will be shown the entire chart related to the reach and performance of their content.

The new tools will show advanced metrics such as pledges, account reached, likes, comments, apples, and shares for reels.

Facebook New AI tool for the comment section

Facebook has long been taking the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve its platform and has now come up with new tools.

With the help of new tools that have been created as part of the social media platform, group admins will be able to control their communities better.

Some of the new tools are designed to take an overview of posts and members and help the rest admin.

Testing of Conflict Alerts Tool

The AI tools that the social media company is testing have been named Conflict Alerts.

However, it has not been revealed when these tools will be publicly available.

These conflict alerts are similar to the existing keyword alerts feature that allows admins to set custom alerts when certain keywords or words are used in comments.

The new tools are based on machine learning models and the admin will not have to do any manual settings.

The new tools will also help in dealing with the fights in the comments

An alert will be sent to the group admins in case of a quarrel in the comments of the post made in the group.

Admins will be able to delete comments and take action after receiving alerts.

In addition, admins can get the members who are quarreling in the comment out of the group if needed.

Admins will also be able to decide how often a member can comment on a post.

No clarity on tool mechanism

The conflict alerts feature may be useful in hearing, but it is not clear at the moment how it will work.

The new AI tools comment does not provide any information on how to identify ‘continuous or unhealthy conversions.’

According to The Verge, the Facebook spokesperson has said that the company will resort to machine learning models for this and decide whether negative interaction sits in comments.

AI model Reliability

Facebook is already taking the help of AI systems to flag abuse speech and fake news.

However, these machine learning-based models are not trustworthy and sometimes even consider satire to be objectionable posts.

New tools can base certain words written in comments or conversions on whether admins should be sent alerts.

All new admin Home Page

Facebook is also offering a brand-new admin homepage for groups with a new Suite.

This homepage will act like a dashboard showing an overview of ‘posts, members and reported comments’.

In addition, new group members will also be shown to the admin, along with ‘posts, comments or other activities made in the group on behalf of the member’ can also be seen simultaneously.

The admin assist feature associated with automated moderation is also in the testing phase. This entry was tagged FacebookInstagram. Bookmark the permalink.

Caption Instagram Stories With A Sticker Easily: Here's How

Instagram Stories provide an excellent way to share videos quickly throughout the day. You can add automatic captions and make them accessible for everyone. Here’s how

Captions are the most impressive and essential accessibility features available on any smartphone. When it comes to Instagram, the users can easily add captions to the videos they want to post on Instagram Stories, and that too just using a sticker.

Since its first launch in August 2016, Instagram stories have become widely popular among users. It is still the most popular Instagram feature. Roughly out of 1 billion users active monthly on Instagram, 500 million users use Instagram Stories to share their short videos and photos.

Here, it is worth noting that one-third of the most-viewed Instagram Stories come from businesses. It is excellent and fantastic if someone wants to share less important video content that you don’t want to post on the Instagram timeline.

Here, all users active on Instagram know that all uploads on Instagram Stories expire automatically after 24 hours. Instagram Stories is easy to use the feature without any long-term commitment to whatever you have shared.

Apart from these, the social media network also offers tons of stickers and effects to users. So, the users can customize their Stories content and posts with endless possibilities virtually. Recently, news came about the social media network focusing on creating a  Vertical Stories feature. The newly added feature will help the users to swipe down or up to see the stories posted by the users that they often follow.

The Caption sticker is the most exciting and essential when it comes to stickers available on Instagram Stories. The users can use the Captions sticker to add captions automatically to their video content they record on Instagram Stories.

It makes the video clip more accessible to the users and viewers that are hard of listening and deaf. Also, it is more accessible to the viewers who prefer watching videos without turning on their sound.

If you want to add the caption to your video content, it is pretty simple and can be done with a few clicks. Here, you have first to complete the recording of a video on Instagram Stories. Then, search for the Stickers icon on the top of your screen.

It will appear to you a smiley face. Further, wait for the pop-up menu to appear and then click on the ‘Captions’ sticker. Similarly, the video and photo-sharing platform will automatically transcribe any speech in the video and create captions.

Instagram Stories: Captions Can Be Edited & Customized

Similar to various stickers on Instagram Stories, the users can customize captions stickers in many ways. For example, you can reposition the captions and change the text color as Instagram provides captions in four animation styles. Moreover, Instagram allows the captions stickers to be zoomed out, zoomed in, rotated, and moved without any restrictions virtually.

More importantly, if the automatic transcription software of Instagram finds something wrong,  the captions can be edited themselves instantly. To do this, the users have to click on the captions sticker. But, first of all, you have to add captions to a story.

Then, click on the word that you wish to edit. Here, a keyboard will appear to you to quickly enter the word that should be appeared. Now, click on the ‘Done’ option displayed on the screen top after completing the required edits. At last, the users have to click on Save.

There is only one downside to the captions sticker. The captions sticker is available to limited countries. Currently, caption stickers are available and limited to only English and English-speaker countries. However, the social media network is planning to roll out it to more regions and languages in the future.

Facebook that also owns Instagram, is also working on an end-to-end encryption feature for Instagram Direct and Facebook Messenger. End-to-end encryption is the most sought-after feature for messaging apps. The social media giant is also working on long-term goals to provide additional protection to users against unwanted messages and unwanted intrusions. Plus, it wants to enable more safety controls for Instagram direct and Facebook Messenger.

For the users active on Instagram who do not live in the regions or area where automatic captions are available, it’s an easy and fast way to ensure that every user can enjoy Instagram stories regardless of their hearing.
